Shrinkage and fabric relaxation depend entirely on the specific material structure you choose:

  • 100% Cotton: Pure natural cotton inherently relaxes during its very first exposure to laundry water. To ensure your throw remains long enough to fully cover your feet and shoulders, we have woven our blankets with extra generous dimensions out of the box. As long as you wash cold on a gentle cycle and tumble dry on low heat, it will settle beautifully into its ideal, advertised standard size.
  • 100% Cotton Double-Gauze: Double-gauze is celebrated for its lightweight, airy, and crinkled look. Because of its unique layered weave, this fabric will naturally contract and wrinkle up significantly after its first wash—this is its intended organic design, not a defect. It will expand and drape freely again once laid over your body, but to minimize dramatic shrinkage, we strictly recommend line drying in the shade or using the lowest possible air-fluff setting on your dryer.
  • Synthetic Blends : Unlike natural fibers, synthetic yarns like acrylic, polyester, and chenille do not experience traditional cotton shrinkage. However, they are highly sensitive to high temperatures, which can melt the soft microfibers and cause the blanket to lose its fluffy texture or warp out of shape. To keep the pile looking plush and beautiful, always wash cold and tumble dry on low with zero heat (or air-dry flat).

We photograph our blankets in sun-drenched, natural daylight settings to show you how the textures live in a real home. We use highly precise reactive digital printing to ensure our vintage garden florals and earthy solid tones match our digital proofs beautifully. However, please note that because these are printed on organic, unbleached natural fibers, the colors carry a slightly warmer, softer, and more authentic antique depth in person that beautifully enhances the vintage cottage aesthetic.
